Technical Production Manager

Salary: Dependent on experience

Location: Chepstow, SE Wales


We are looking for a technical production manager with experience of working on projects and at venues across Europe to join our small but busy and energetic team.


The successful candidate will be responsible for providing the IT/technical production support to the team both onsite and in the office to ensure we produce effective communications projects which fulfil the client's brief and exceed their expectations.


MAIN DUTIES:


Client liaison:

  • Handle requests for information, communicate progress and deal with queries as required

Technical production:

  • Liaise with venues and technical contractors
  • Attend technical recces and create a technical spec for event
  • Source and book kit and check supplier quotes for accuracy and price competitiveness
  • Provide team with costs or budgets as required
  • Attend events, set up, run and derig shows and exhibitions
  • Manage sub-contractors on site
  • Prep and test kit and computers for events

Internal housekeeping:

  • Technical kit & computer maintenance including fault finding, repairing and building machines
  • Avid and technical maintenance (liaising with external suppliers)
  • Encoding and uploading/downloading files
  • Keeping kit database up-to-date and logging kit in and out of store

Other Production:

  • Non-technical production support on shows and events eg helping with bookings and logistics and sourcing items (giveaways, branded items)

JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS:


Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ technical project experience working on events both in UK and Europe
  • Experience producing complex quotes and managing budgets to secure a strong margin
  • Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production, or HNC, HND Foundation Degrees and Degrees in Creative Media Production, Audio production, Multimedia and Digital Media Technology or related
  • Educated to GCSE level, minimum of C in Maths and English essential
  • AV professional qualification desirable but not essential

Competencies:

  • Be an excellent verbal and written communicator
  • Have a keen interest in and understanding of existing and emerging media and related technologies
  • Have excellent organisational abilities and ability to use own initiative
  • Have good people skills and the ability to both work within and manage a team
  • High level of computer competency (Microsoft, PPT, Excel)
  • Knowledge of SketchUp a benefit

Additional Requirements:

  • The job holder will be expected to work flexibly according to the company’s event schedule, recognising that significant evening and weekend coverage will be required
  • Full driving licence and car
  • Current valid passport and overseas travel may be required
